All India Engineering Entrance
examination commonly called as AIEEE is an entrance examination into the
National Institute of Technology (i.e. NIT's) and many other engineering
colleges in AIEEE does not have a fixed format
and may surprise you - but the best thing to do is prepare yourself for all
kinds of twists and write the paper with an open mind rather than having a
pessimistic approach to the paper. The AIEEE 2010 examination will
be held on April, 2010. Undoubtedly AIEEE is the single
most important exam for your BITSAT preparation also. BITSAT is s special
entrance exam conducted online for Birla Institute of Technology in Pilani, Rajasthan
and Both AIEEE and BITSAT are
MCQ(Multiple Choice question) based question papers with equal importance on
understanding the concept and application of the concepts. Your speed in
solving the problems plays a crucial role in deciding your final rank. Both
follow NCERT syllabus with Maths being more practice oriented and Chemistry
based on memory questions. While AIEEE gives equal weight
age to all topics, BITSAT which is based on random questions from each topic
may result in concentrating highly on one topic and not on other (though
authorities say they are working to reduce this randomness and trying to accommodate
equal number of problems from each topic). On the whole your AIEEE exam will
be good step to prepare for your BITSAT. If you rectify the mistakes you
have done in AIEEE you will surely get a very good score in BITSAT.(doesn't
mean you make mistakes in AIEEE :) ) An aspirants Experience.. Students who took AIEEE 2009
(including me) found the question paper quite different from what they
expected. The maximum marks were increased to 432 from 315 for the previous
some years. The negative marking too, was one-fourth of the correct marks for
questions (this instruction on the front page of question paper wasn't made
quite clear though), as opposed to one-third of the correct marks in AIEEE
2008 and before. The marking scheme wasn't constant throughout. There were
sets of 4 and 8 marks worth questions. Assertion-reason type questions were
found in Physics, as also a comprehension passage. What is the good thing about this
format? Since the maximum marks are
increased, this gives a more accurate evaluation of candidates. The
difficulty level in Mathematics was higher, putting intelligent candidates to
advantage. Comprehensions tested students' understanding in short time. And the bad thing... There
were questions worth eight marks in the question paper, meaning the student
gets 8 marks for marking correct choice and -2 (negative) for the wrong one.
So the difference in the total marks of a student in the two cases where he
gets such a question right and where he doesn’t is 10 marks, which is a
significantly large figure. I invite review and suggestions. All students can contact me at ganithguru for further guidance. |
